...excited to see you on Christmas Eve

Hey Mom

Sorry must of just got off when you sent that last message...Well first off oh so I talked to a family in my ward and they said I can use their computer to sky or Google hangout with the family on Christmas eve!!! So I don’t know what to do before Christmas Eve you or tanner needs to set up a Skype account and make one for me and then Monday before Christmas email the information. I was thinking of doing it in the afternoon here so that would be the morning there I think since you are 5 hours behind me. So ya that will be awesome and when I figure out a time for sure I will let you know and hopefully we have power on Christmas because right now they are working on tons of power lines so we lose power and water a lot. Also the water the government limits when its summer so ya that’s new to me ha-ha.

I think that would be super cool for Emma and her friends to do, you should try and see if there are sister missionaries in the south stake. oh I have an idea that I’m doing with our families for home evening we watch Mormon messages they are super powerful and super awesome. They are simple but they are the prophets and apostles. For the girl I would just start off with love build the trust in you and build the trust she has with her heavenly father. Other than that once you figure out her needs its easier and you can go from there.

That’s crazy about Chase being 17 what is going to do for his birthday and how is he doing with basketball? Is he going to get any time in varsity? And what is BTS cake? Oh ya once Emma emails it to you should email that to me and I can download it to my pen-drive. wow Casey didn’t like Wittworth? man that will be Motley Crew in Utah stake Tanner, Jessica, Devan, Monty, and Hudson. Ya I think Taylor might be getting married soon cuz when I left he was with a girl and it look like they might get married.

Well when I came here in total it was around 200 pesos and the rate right now is one dollar is equal to 10 pesos so it’s not too much compared to dollars but when we only get 800 a month to live its hard like right now I’m wait to get that money back because I don’t have money today. Well a bus is around 3 or 5 pesos so overall it’s the best but they only come one every hour so you have to time it perfect. I have a bus schedule so that helps alot.in my area I use a bus every once in a while cuz some of our areas are really far. But they are driving our area again so it will be smaller which will be nice.

I think there is one Wal-Mart but I can’t go there cuz it’s a different zone. if it was in my zone I could. but we have a jumbo it’s a huge mall that is super cool!!! it has everything there we might go there today to hang out and eat a little. Well I think dad sent me pair that we have had forever so I should be fine for now with everything. And ya we have milk since Argentina is metric it’s in liters and in a bag it’s a little weird. Milk is around 7 or 8 pesos. Everything is in sizes smaller compared to the United States but it’s all pretty much the same. Your box from November no but I think it’s here today because I heard from the sisters there is a box in our bag. Ya I got Julies and for now I think I’m good maybe when I have a year I can throw a party.

Its crazy tomorrow is my five month day!!! And by the end or the start of next transfer I will have 6 months. I really like that world I will keep it in mind and I miss the family but excited to see you on Christmas Eve

BRRRRrrrr!!!

Wow !! That is really cold even for Nampa... ya here its around 86 degrees its a little warm in church clothes and the members keep saying its gonna get a lot warm in January. We have that to look forward to. Our pres has ordered us to carry a water bottle every day all day and we have to fill it up and drink two or three times so that will help. Wow that's crazy about coach P, I thought he would stay in Boise for awhile since he loved Boise so much and was having so much success but money speaks a lot and hopefully he has a good time in Washington. That will be hard for the die-hards to let go of him.

So is Chase still living with dad or you ? That's funny about the dead fish ha-ha I wonder what sparked that new hobby of his. I wonder why Emma is dragging right now before she loved school and now no.....? I wonder if something happened and now this is why she doesn't want to go. Wow that's awesome that Tanner maintained that GPA.  Its really hard I heard to maintain your freshman year. Utah State has the Halloween Howl which is a huge party and other big parties so at times its hard for kids to focus i know elders that were there before the mission.

Maybe you could be a mission nurse our mission has sort of one but ya a lot of missions have doctors or nurses that missionaries call when they are sick. That would be super cool. well I'm not supposed to talk about it but right now Argentina is a little dangerous... right now a lot of the policemen are on strike so ya people are robbing like crazy. In my area our big mall called the Jumbo got robbed last night and Wal-Mart and other stores so ya its a little crazy. So ya for the past days we haven't been able to leave our pensions unless it was church or we had a date with someone with a member. Its fun sitting in a apartment all day with no AC but today we should be able to work normal but we need to be careful and be smart we will go home when its dark and not carry a lot of money. I'm not worried my area is fields so I'm safe and good. Oh is brother Conn and well all is well I'm excited to work and progress the church here.

Well I love you and tell Emma, Chase and Tanner that I love them and miss them too.

We get to sleep in for Christmas

Ya I understand how Kaden feels right now....  I'm sort of in the same situation because our pension wasn't ready to move into so we were living in a pension with two other elders. It wasn't crowed but it was really far from our area so we couldn't really work to much there.

We also had a special mission conference this week. It was crazy 175 missionaries in one chapel it was awesome. I got to see my district from the MTC again and we got to hear from a member of the 70 Brother Romero. He was very good and powerful so that was awesome to hear from him and his wife and also President Lovell and Sister Lovell.

But today we move apartments finally and wow its a really nice apartment brand new but its in a really dangerous part of the city so ya I need to watch out. I think I might ask for a bike because our area is really big and it would be safer and quicker if we had a bike to use. Overall time here is moving super quick I got the list of stuff for Christmas and it should be fun we are going to have a mission conference again and have dinner together and have a white elephant gift exchange so that should be fun. The best part is ha-ha we get to sleep in for Christmas not much only till 8 but that's better than 6.

So ya Christmas should be good. Oh along with garments you should send the thing that cuts our hair cuz its expense to buy one here and its expensive to get hair cuts and I could cut my own hair with our buzzer. Ya I bet grandpa isn't a super great patient but not the worse cuz he knows a lot about medicine.

Well it sounds like you had a good Thanksgiving I'm glad we had a chicken ha-ha and bread it was good well all is good here.

I can say now that I have built a house with my own bare hands

I know its crazy Christmas is already here time and flown by... Well here I think its around 80 during the day, yesterday we helped a family build their house so ya that was cool.  I can say now that I have built a house with my own bare hands.

I need to get the pictures from the members cuz it was really fun and a great service activity. ya my Thanksgiving was that I forgot it was Thanksgiving and we had chicken and bread for Thanksgiving so it was good. No football but it was a good day.

Well things are moving along here we are finally in our pension which is huge we have a room that we dont need so we are going to make suff to lift and that will be our gym haha or movie theater haha jk. But ya its good I love this area its really calm and pretty its very green and different than my last area. Its sort of sketchy but I love it the members are super cool. We have alot of members that know English so thats fun to help them and they can help me learn more every day.

Well I think I will get your box today. Well I hope all is
well with the family. All is well here warm and awesome

No paved roads or anything like that.

Well my new area is called Barrio America b it was an area before but now we split it and made it two different areas. The city I live in is called Plottier it’s really pretty and really green, it’s like the country side super green and relaxed. My area is new construction but that means it’s a little different than American new construction. No paved roads or anything like that. In the city center of Plottier it’s really pretty. My area is also I guess dangerous cuz the members keep saying be careful and watch out.

Oh and they say don’t have appointments fare away from our house. So ya that’s good I’m not too worried we will be protected. But for now we are living in the city with other Elder’s cuz our pension isn’t ready for us we should be in our pension this week hopefully. We still need to finish our floors and get our beds and everything to live. But the ward is really small there were only 30 people in the church Sunday. The funny thing was we were the first people in the church the bishop was late so ya that gives a little hint to the ward.

So a big focus we are going to have this transfer is to get more members back active and help the active members stay active and help us get investigators. My area is huge we have a lot of little areas of house that are really spread out. So this transfer we will use a lot of buses when we can cuz some of the houses are 30 min away in the bus so ya it will be interesting. My new companion is a little frustrating to me he is from California and he has tons of money so ya he has his problems and I have mine. But the problem is he only talks in English to me so I’m super frustrated cuz I’m not progressing in the language. I told him I don’t want to talk in English but he doesn’t listen so I just try and only talk back in Spanish. Well will see if he can speak super well. He has around 7 months in the mission but only one month in Argentina. The rest of the time he was waiting in WV for his visa. Ya I write in my journal every day I’ve filled one up already and about to fill up another one its awesome it helps me a lot to write my thoughts about our investigators and problems.

That sucks about football I thought that this would be the year that they finally win state. Maybe next year and is chase mad about playing jv and wow Emma’s first stake dance I feel super old now. Did Emma have a good birthday? The pictures I don’t know how to send pictures I think I need to buy a different thing to upload pictures cuz the one I have I think is junk. I’m sorry to hear things are tough there in Idaho always remember that heavenly father prepares a way to pass through all challenges. Well that’s about everything new hope all is well.

I want a buzzer or thing to cut my hair ...

Thank you mom for the box and everything you do for me I appreciate it a lot all the sacrifice you and dad go through for provide for us. Right now I don't need anything I'm good.  I want a buzzer or thing to cut my hair but I wait for awhile and most of the elders have one and also the member have one always so I plan on having the members cut my hair for awhile. Other than that nothing really important that I can think of. Ya I have it but I don't think I can use it here in Argentina and I don't really need to right now.

The hem in my pants are starting to fall apart but I can get members to help me but its a little stupid that they are falling apart when I only have like 4 months in the mission they should be fine I treat me pants good and wash them in a good washer (good for Argentina).

Tell Emma happy birthday for me and I hope she had a good birthday!!! Sorry to hear she wasn't accepted their loss not Emma's.
And I got my transfer call Saturday night so I leave today in the evening for my new area.   My new area is called Plotier the ward/ neighborhood I will live in is called Barrio America ha-ha ya I'm serious its called America its super funny to me.  This area is about 20 min away from my area now so not a huge move. Its a different stake so that will be interesting to meet a new stake again. In this stake I hear there is a lot more members so this will help a lot more with lessons and other stuff. The stuff I've heard about my area is its more like the country more space between the house and a little more calm than my area now. People say its super nice and pretty I guess I will see once I get there.

My new companion is named Elder Price. This all i know of him, he is a gringo which is always good to have to help me learn but I also want a Latino soon so I can work on my accent. I had a talk Sunday in sacrament meeting I didn't have time to talk a lot so I just bore my testimony which was good cuz the last time I bore my testimony in sacrament meeting was my first Sunday in this area. I will spend Christmas in this barrio so I'm stoked the time here is crazy fast. Oh ya I think we will have the opportunity to hear a member of the 70 soon maybe in December or January so that will be awesome I'm stoke for that.
Ya its crazy I wont have Thanksgiving for two years and I hope all is good mom

Well hope all is well with you all is well with me.

HaPpY BiRtHdAy!!!!

Hi Mommy

As of now the boxes take two weeks so ya the first of December or last of November. Thanks mom for the box it means a lot that you send stuff a lot of Elders don't get boxes so thank you!!!!

Ya for my birthday was pretty normal in the morning we changed things up and had eggs and hash browns which were amazing. We had a full day of appointments which is the best. One family wanted me to sing to them cuz I look like I could sing ha-ha they were wrong ha-ha. But the day was awesome in the evening we passed a members house and we had a little party. It was a surprise party I didn't know about it so that was nice. We had tons of food, empanadas, cake, soda, and fruit salad and other stuff. It was awesome we sang songs and everyone shared a thing they like about me it was super special. So ya my first birthday in Argentina was awesome.

So ya this is the last week in this transfer so I'm probably going to get transferred but I don't want to move but oh well I'm excited to see more of Argentina and meet new people and new experiences. Well not much is super new I hope all is well with you mom. Always remember your Heavenly Father is there for you and will always answer your prayers.

One more month and I will be able to call everyone!

I walk a ton every day.....

Hey mommy

How are you? Well ya I think they are delayed a little the dates on the other emails like the one about Halloween and the different test emails all came in on 31 of October.

Wow that’s cool here it’s in the high 70s and low 80s but most days there are breezy that help a lot keep me cool but I’m roasted in the face and neck today I need to buy sunscreen and maybe ask the President if I can use a hat cuz I burn pretty easy. But the food is good had a little diarrhea the other day but not bad just one day so ya I’m still doing good heath wise my lips are super chapped that’s another thing I need to buy today ha-ha.

Well wish Emma good luck with the crush and wow the picture of Emma with Hailey she looks a lot older to me ha-ha. And maybe this will be the year they break the curse of finally winning state hopefully ha-ha. And ya I heard about the new addition to the family is he potty trained? And there is a lot of good advice and tips for dogs in the internet might try that. How is tanner doing with the Chinese? So will he have to go live in China for a while like study there? I imagine the Barker house hold is super loud and busy right now with Tanner and with the new addition in the family. Lily is a good name I love that name.

Well I’m in Neuquén but like in Brazil I imagine. The city is broken up into barrios. (Neighborhoods) I live barrio Villa Ceferino. I live in the most northern part of my area. In my area we have 4 or 5 different barrios so ya I walk a ton every day but my calves are super toned right now ha-ha so ya that’s a plus and my legs are fine not sore or shin splints. In my area we have like a mall called the Anonima it’s like Karcher mall its hilarious and ya we shop and but hang out there every Monday it has a bowling alley and pool tables and its super funny they play American music so ya that’s awesome and oh man in the Anonima there is my greatest weakness. A movie theater ha-ha it’s my addiction to be so close and not be able to watch a movie and the other bad part is they have a big projector that plays movies by where you buy food and ya its hard not to watch. Now I’m used to not watching TV so ya I’m fine.

Most people in Neuquén work for oil companies so ya they have good money for them and the other is construction and impression I think it’s like factory work but I’m still trying to figure that out ha-ha. No its Spanish so it’s all crazy to me ha-ha but ya I’m moving along with the language. Well other than that nothing super new.

We have 9 new investigators and 5 or 6 dates for baptisms ...

Hey mom

How are things and that suck about the ten day stretch? Why did you have to work that many days in a row? Well this week was really good we have 9 new investigators and 5 or 6 dates for baptisms the coming weeks the first is the 8 of November. It’s a lady she has 38 years old and she just left an abusive relationship. It’s super sad and hard to relate to that with her but she has a strong relationship with our heavenly father. Her brother is the elder’s quorum president in our barrio. He served and mission in Mexico. He has only been back 7 months and he was immediately put into the pres. his sister is super sad because she wants to have a family and kids but she can’t find the right person. But she believes the church can help her have peace and closer to her family. So ya I’m excited for the baptism with her I probably won’t baptism probably the brother but I might confirm the Holy Ghost sooooo ya that’s exciting.

The other people are a family that I haven’t had the opportunity to talk with yet. This past week since things are so busy we do splits with members. Its super crazy I only have two months in the field and i lead lessons and teach the people with the help of awesome members I love it and it forces me to progress really fast. the language is coming along really good. The members love talking with me and I love the ward they are all so kind and loving.

Other than that all is super awesome this transfer is half way over which is crazy because it felt like it just started. So maybe in three weeks I will get transferred to a different area or new city. other than that all is well love you mommy hope all is well always remember the answers to all our problems are in our hands we just need to read or pray for help and how is tanner and the rest of the gang.

We have our first baptism ...

Hi mommy

Well yesterday here was mother’s day but I guess we don’t get to call for both mother’s day so I guess I have to wait till mother’s day in the US.

All is well we have our first baptism on the 23 de Novembre. I’m super excited. I may not be in the same area but I hope I am. One is named Blanca she is a single mom with tons of kids not sure how many.  The other is a mom also. She is married and has one little boy. We taught here one night outside here house cuz she didn’t have the key a little funny. But we invited her and she said yes. So ya, super excited with everything.

The weather is nice short sleeves and sunscreen. Still healthy not losing or gaining weight but I need to start running cuz I am super out of shape. So how are things in your ward? How are things in work? How are things with Tanner and Chinese? I hope all is well all is super here.

God be with you till we meet again.

Well, my new companion

Well, my new companion is named Elder Nobman. His full name is Ethan Nobman from Seattle Washington. He was a running back for his football team and must have been pretty good because he went to the all-state game like we have in Idaho. He wants to play football for BYU after the mission. He is a little short and chubby to play for a division one school but he’s awesome I love him. He is a little nuts about the rules I guess it’s a good thing but he need to chill a little bit. I think he might be a missionary that focuses a little too much in baptism and not in helping the ward, less active or other people. We talked and every day we are going to pass by one or two members and menos activo.  It’s fine nothing to weird with having a companion. I guess I’m used to it....

Well this week we have 9 new investigadors. So ya, things are going well no baptisms yet. I think we are going to have to drop two investigators because they won’t read or pray about the gospel. So ya that’s a little hard but we can spend every day with them if they won’t build that faith in the gospel for themselves. We have a new couple called Victor and Daniela they are judo masters and super amazing!! I love them so much they are super with to read and pray I have high hopes for them.

The only time we use a taxi is when we go to a different barrio for a zone conference. That’s once a month. So ya, we don’t use the buses. In my area its big but it’s not too big I have to use a bus. If I was in the centro area I would maybe use the buses more. It’s a ward we have 277 baptized members maybe more but every Sunday around 30 to 60 attend the church. So we have a lot of menos activo. The name of my bishop is Morales. He is super, super young like in his early 30´s. Very similar situation that President Monson was in when he was a bishop. But he has been a bishop for the total time he has been a member which is 5 years. He had one year when he wasn’t a bishop but other than that a bishop. He is super awesome he knows a lot and is super amazing with the missionaries.

Ya the weather is starting to warm up a lot but this week was weird some days it was super-hot I don’t know in degrees since it’s all in Celsius. but other days it was raining and cool. so some mornings I start in a long sleeve and sweater and by lunch I’m in a short sleeve and super-hot. But it’s not too bad I think after this month I’m getting transferred hopefully to the south like Batiloce. It’s crazy in this transfer one of the sisters that was in my district in the MTC is a trainer. She is probably training a Latin from a different country. So really she is just helping the Latin adjust to the area and the mission. But is crazy she only has a month and half and she is trainer. I don’t think I will be training for a awhile and when i do train it will be a Latin that already knows the language. If I train that will be cool but also very hard because you don’t want to screw up a missionary.

Oh so what’s going on with Obama and stuff I hear all the parks and stuff are closed. well tell Emma congratulations with the win and tell the others hi and that I love them.

15 million members in the church. Thats crazy!

Wow haha that present and than some haha :)

Hey I get a new companion tonight. He is from Seattle and he will help finish my first 12 weeks of training. I feel like I am a little behind. My first training didn't really want to train me he just wanted the numbers. The numbers of baptisms and confirmation. So I'm a little behind I think but that just means I have to work harder this next month.

Conference was awesome I loved it. Loved the messages, I wish President Monson spoke more but next conference I bet he will. 15 million members in the church.  that's crazy and so many I wonder how many are active or menos activo.

What can I do with credit union? How are things in Idaho. Is it cold yet? How is grandma doing? Oh ya how is the crazy dog Artie? Still alive right. How is the new ward treating you?

I feel bad I'm still too new in the mission I'm still in the face of looking for the light at the end of the tunnel.  That will pass once I can speak fluently I will enjoy the language so much more and be able to talk to everyone. Disfrutar my days. Time is going by so quick which is good I guess its tons of fun and I love the work. Soon I will be training and that's scary but other than that all is good. Other than that all is well. not sick and enjoying my time.

Till next week love you mom.

days fly by we are always talking and walking...

Happy late birthday mama!!!

Hope you had a good birthday. What did you do for your birthday even though it was on Sunday this year? Ya that is sort of early for a language class specially Japanese the only kids that do that are the missionaries in the MTC.  They don’t enjoy it that much I imagine.

So what is new in Nampa? That awesome about chase what a beast and Emma’s team is a beast to from the letters? So what is the team’s record right now and a typical day for me wake up at 630 and shower and eat cereal next week I’m going to buy better stuff like eats and bread and yogurt. than start studying at 8 to 9 that is personal study than from 9 to 11 is companion study we get ready for lessons and study preach my gospel more and do practices in Spanish and other stuff than from 11 to 12 is idiom study where I study the language (the different rules Future pass tense Etc.) than we clean or start walking to lunch cuz we always have lunch at 1 with a member. Along the way we contact people. it all depends cuz it’s a long walk for lunch. We eat and lunch is normally 2 to 3 hours it’s crazy!! It’s a hard adjustment for me cuz normally I would be working after a hour lunch. But it’s crazy to try and contact during lunch cuz people are sleeping or eating and you don’t want to wake people up it’s not good. Then its work after lunch till 9 when return and eat and plan for the next day. Ha-ha sounds boring but the days fly by we are always talking and walking and meeting new people.

Well I’m still trying to figure out the computers here they are super old and crappy and it would load my photos. It’s all good well I love you mom.  I hope all is well with you.

Service....Oh everyone here wears scarves!

For service we help members around the house we dig ditches and move stuff around. I love service it’s awesome to see the looks on the members, less active, or investigators faces.

Well we haven’t had a baptism yet we have to keep pushing back the date cuz the girl works to much and doesn’t have time to hear the lessons. It’s a little frustrating but I think this week will be a little better. Hopefully we have success and teach a lesson or two. Oh, here name is Jamila she is 20 years old here boyfriend is a member but less active. She really loves the church, the members and the family of her boyfriend. She was prepared pretty well by the lord. It’s just a matter of giving her the information and let her go from there. Also we have a nurse named Gladis who works a ton so it’s hard to get time with here also we served here and dug a trench in front of her house. A member has pictures I will try and get some. Oh everyone here wears scarves I wear mine all the time.

That’s hilarious about Chase's hair, I imagine the guys on the team give him a hard time about it. I hope this week is a little better we didn’t progress much but we laid the bricks to have a good week. And that’s crazy about Adam I love that story I bet that will be the best story of his mission. Well I will see you next week. Oh some news about the US would be awesome. haha

The food is super good I love it all

Hi mom

All is well with Elder Ashworth.  I start on my fourth week I think here in the field its crazy!! Time has gone by so quick! How are things with Tanner and the rest of the gang. Thanks for forwarding the pictures of Adam. I love seeing the difference in where we are serving it makes me laugh we are going to have some crazy stories when we get back.

Well no baptisms this week. Saturday we will.  Today I’m going to buy a converter for my memory stick so I can up load photos of the apartment and tons of other. I need to take more I will try a lot harder this week to take more so I can share with the family.

The Spanish is coming along slow but the members help so much and they say they have seen a huge gain and most are super impressed at my abilities for how long I have been here. The food is super good I love it all. I’m excited to get my stuff for the apartment so I can cook in the morning and evening. Oh so you should tell me about what new movies are coming out ha-ha. I’m super excited to here conference in October we will have the opportunity to watch it in English. Us white elders and Hermana’s will go to the mission home and watch with the presidents I think or the chapel right down the road from their house.

Its super cold here now too bad. We have a lot of cites so we go from one house to the next and they all give us hot chocolate ha-ha since we can’t drink mate. Studying the scriptures has forced me to slow down and read multiple times I love it. Well I would love to write to Tanner so shoot me his email and I will try to write him too in my short hour I have.

Hola! Keep a prayer in your heart to have the Spirit with you!

Hi

Well I'm adjusting pretty well. We have big meals in the afternoon which I love. We don't have a frige or a microwave yet in our apartment oh ya or a washing machine but we will soon hopefully this week. That apartment is really nice compared to some of the houses here we are truly blessed. Hot water, power and fresh water. Even though I drink the water here and all is well so far.

I had one migraine cuz I didn't drink enough but I was fine I took a nice long shower in the night and I was gone. I got some meds from a nurse in my ward super nice says she is our new mother for now. She is going to make sure I'm taking care of. The weather is ok I wear the sweat shirts still and the big coat one day but today it is super nice I might change after lunch to a short sleeve. It's so weird even though its super different and very humbling living in my area we have a smaller I guess mall and today we are going to eat McDonalds and go bowling I'm super stoked. It's so weird and different than Idaho but I truly do love it. The ward is super small but super nice all of them are taking super good care of me. I love the food so much is way good a lot of pizza and sort of weird meals but I'm not being picky and eating all of it and than some. The members love that.

Oh no we walk all day every day my legs were super sore for a day but not any more im going to have calfs of steel when I get home in two years. I feel this mission we walk so much but what makes it hard is the fact that its up or down hill and the fact that the roads are super rough and super narly. We don't shine our shoes here it would be a losing battle. Well I haven't played soccer yet next week we are going to play with our zone leaders and maybe some elders from a different area. I'm stoked. my clothes are some what holding up my big coat has a big hole in the pocket I have only used once so I'm a little annoyed about that. I think my blue pants are ripping. I might take them to the Relief Society president and see what she says or maybe the mall and see what the tail there has to say. I imagine I can sow the pocket in my coat but my pants and suit coat I think some one with more skill will have to fix.

Oh ya so since my area is new there are some old like really old records of people but now we have to fix the records and track them down and figure out our area a little better. We have one baptism here it was super amazing the spirit was so strong that night. I know now that its going to be hard serving but seeing her feel the spirit making all the hard stuff totally worth it. We have a lot of solid people coming up this week. I hope we have 5 or 6 solid investigators this week. I feel like this area is going to explode once we get a little more organized and settled.

Tell Chase I understand where he is coming from just work and pray and hope that he will get his chance and when he gets that chance hit someone super hard for me. Well other than that tell Chase and Emma I challenge them to read daily and pray daily I have seen the difference in my life the last year and I know they can feel that change as well.

It is hard being a missionary...

Well I made it to Argentina I didn't stay a night in Buenos Aires we got another flight to Neuquén everything has been moving super quick.

So the first thing in Argentina was the fact that no one was speaking English!!!! Crazy right so everyone in my group just stayed together and moved like a big blog we were super scared and had no idea what to do. There was no one there from the church to pick us up so we didn't want to leave the airport so we just formed a mega blob of missionaries it was pretty awesome many peoples looked at us like we were crazy.

So we waited around for like an hour or an hour and a half. Eventually the mission president of Buenos Aires and another lady came in and gave us all a big hug I imagine we all had pretty scared looks on our faces. Most of us hadn´t shaved or showered for a couple of days.  So after a awhile we got a big bus and went to the mission office in down town Buenos Aires what a culture shock the people are awesome but always in a hurry and there are soo many dogs here it blows my mind. Like there are literally millions of dogs in the streets and on the sidewalks. Most run as soon as you look at them.

So once we made it to office we meet different people ate lunch and boarded the bus again to head to the different airport for our plane. So now it was a smaller group but it was still way awesome to have people with me. We had a layover there for 3 or 4 hours. It was super long and now we are hungry but now we don’t have money or know how to speak. So we waited and waited some more. Another group joined us from the MTC Argentina super nice elders and sisters. We boarded the plane and made the 2 hour flight to Neuquén. It was quiet and you could feel the tension in us newbies.

Once we landed we saw President Lovell and Hermana Lovell they gave us a hug and we boarded some buses to the mission home. The elders slept in the Casa Grande. The house of the senior companion super nice people. Elder and Sister Emky. We spent two days there resting getting ready, studying and bunch of other stuff than we went to the chapel and were assigned companions. My companion is Elder Vanez he is from Chile has been in the field for 6 months. Knows perfect English this is the funny part he learned English from Star Wars.  I’m serious its nuts.

I’m so happy that I have a native and an English speaker. The last couple of days have been a blurr for two days we lived in apartment with a other set of elders it was so small and tiny. Filthy but I didn't care. Now we have a nice apartment to ourselves. Its clean thanks to me and my companion. We have one family and two other people to teach tonight I’m super excited. Next week I will try and send pictures of my area and other stuff. It is sooooooo hard being a missionary I wasn't ready but with the Lord I will be. Sent to every one please.

Letter from the Mission President... arrival in Argentina

Neuquén – Argentina   Tel.:(0299) 443-2413

Dear Ashworth Family
We are pleased to inform you your son, Elder Tyler  Ashworth, has arrived safely in the Argentina Neuquén mission.  We were excited to meet him on as he arrived at the Airport here in Neuquén.  Enclosed please find a picture that was taken during the mission orientation he was given on Wednesday.

Thank you for your willingness to share your son with us as a missionary and representative of the Savior, Jesus Christ.  We know it is a sacrifice for you, but also know the Lord will bless you richly while Elder Ashworth  is here in the mission field.  We encourage you to write him every week with positive, encouraging news and comments.  You should also receive a message from him every week.  Missionaries have a limited amount of time on preparation day. They are permitted to send and receive letters by email, thus communicating with their parents, family members and friends. You can also send letters and packages. Instructions for mailing letters and packages to your missionary are included on the attached information sheet.

For your information, missionaries are permitted to call their family twice yearly for 30 to 40 minutes.  These calls take place on Christmas Day and one other time (usually mother’s day).  They should not call at any other time or for any other reason without permission of the mission president.

We were immediately impressed with the desire of Elder Ashworth  to become involved in missionary work.  On Thursday evening, he left for his first assignment.  We are confident Elder Ashworth  will be a faithful, effective missionary as he applies what he learned in the Missionary Training Center.

May the blessings of the Lord be with you and your family as your son serves faithfully in this most sacred calling.  Please feel free to communicate with us regarding any questions or concerns you may have.

With sincere best wishes,
 President Paul R Lovell

Yo estoy aqui!!

He made it!!!   I spoke with Tyler on Monday in the Atlanta airport.  They had a 5 hour lay-over there before flying directly into Buenos Aires...an 11 hour flight.  I told him to take some Benadryl...maybe he could sleep some. :0) cuz they can't even watch any movies!!!!  He said there were about 20 other missionaries all traveling together to Argentina...mostly Elders but some Sisters.  This made this mom more at ease...because at least they had each other and that he wouldn't end up lost somewhere all alone!

He sounded excited.  I asked him to talk to me in Spanish and he did a really great job...I understood most of it (the phone connection was not so great)...and he didn't sound too much like a Gringo!  He said that he thought that he was going to stay in Buenos Aires for a couple days before going to Neuquén.

Looking forward to MONDAY!!!!

Well it’s one of my last preparation days

Hi Mom

Well it’s one of my last preparation days. This morning I had the opportunity to go to the Provo temple and do an endowment session. it was really amazing the session was completely full of elder and Hermanas ( sisters ). I didn't realize how much I missed the temple till this morning. The new video is really awesome I really enjoyed it. The Provo temple is extremely beautiful.

So I don't recall my starting weight at the CCM but when I find a scale I will let you know how much more I have put on. And thank you I did receive the box it was really awesome. It made my day eating potatoes. Well I can’t think of anything I need super bad. My departure date is still the same but today I should receive a letter talking about my travel plans. I will try and send some picture home if not I will email them later tonight. Everything is going well. I considered a veteran now of the CCM. Last night I had the opportunity to practice teaching to new elders and sisters. It was extremely weird and odd speaking in English. Today I start concentration week when I only speak Spanish all day. I nervous but excited it’s going to be very funny acting out stuff. And that is really sad about the teachers. Hopefully things get better in Nampa.

Oh ya, Tuesday night in devotional, the speaker was Elder Scott (of the 12) it was extremely awesome to see him up close. I didn't get to shake his hand but the spirit and his testimony was very strong. All Argentina elders love him since he was a mission president in Argentina. I still wonder if I should send my extra suit and back pack home since I don't really need them. I would have to get a shoulder bag there or here before I leave and I need the extra room. So if I sent my suit home I would have a lot of room and help keep me underweight. The other guys have a smaller suit case for their carry on with some cloths in case our bags get lost. I don’t know what to do. Send me your thoughts on my situation please.

Well I am officially half way done with the CCM (MTC)

Well I am officially half way done with the CCM (MTC) the time has flown by like the wind. We have a cafeteria which is amazing way better than main campus. I’m defiantly going to put on weight I’m guessing I’ve put on at least 7 pounds I’m going to weigh myself this afternoon. The language is the language its hard but when I relax I speak very well and I don’t sound too much like a gringo. Elder Johnson told me that Monday night he woke up to go to the bath room and he heard me talk Spanish in my sleep. Maybe I just need to relaxed more and just let the Spanish out. The doctrine is coming along too, our teachers want us to go deep into the doctrine of Christ, and making sure we have our purpose down as a missionary.

Yesterday we did TRC which is when members, inactive, or non-members come in to help us practice our language. We teach a lesson that has to be 20 min long and we don’t really get time to prepare the lesson. We had an amazing time we taught how to receive revelation from prayer. We made it into 5 steps: be humble, ask, listen, answer, ponder we had scriptures that went along with all the steps it felt soo good the lesson i hope the people got something out of it. the two people we taught were both members but one was a mission president in Mexico and another was on in Belize they were both very fun to talk to once we were done. Both lessons we went over the time limit but it was awesome. The MTC is so awesome we just had I think 1000 elders and sisters join west campus. Most are crazy languages so that will be fun on speak your language day.

Other than that I can’t think of anything new. We haven’t had a general authority speech yet but I’m really hoping this Sunday we have one or Tuesday night devo. so far we have had some emeritus (retired) members of the 70 the last one was really good Jay Jensen he gave a very good take about study techniques and the depth of the scriptures and always be feasting upon the scriptures. Oh, if you could just print out some small quotes from prophets about anything I would love it I’m gonna stick them into my scriptures. I hope everything is well in Idaho. I will check my email again at 300 before I go to evening class. So if you write me back I should be able to write you back one last time before next Thursday.

Here in the West campus of the MTC letters are truly a blessing for us. The campus has around 600 elders and sisters, we are getting around 1000 new elders and sisters this next Wednesday it will be super packed after that. The language is coming along super well, I have a lot of afternoons where I have to go on walks with my companion to cool off cuz it gets frustrating some times specially with the investigators. My companion is a great guy really quiet and reserved he is perfect for me. The main highlight of p-days is going to main campus and eating some hot food instead of cereal or sandwiches. Thanks for being a great uncle feel free to write me as much as you want.  I will try to write back every preparation day

Mesaje -- A happy elder is a elder with mail or boxes -- wink wink ;)

To mom or dad who ever reads this first

So today is my first preparation day and man the time has flown by. Since I am at west campus it is a little different than main campus. There are around 600 plus missionaries here at west campus. Its really small but awesome since we get so close to people really quick since a group is leaving every day. The food on west campus is very bland and boring. We don't really have a cafeteria yet so we have donuts, cereal, sandwiches, and simple stuff for dinner. Other than that its been amazing. My companero ( companion) is Elder Johnson he is a big guy from Salt Lake City, Utah the Holiday area. He played football so we are getting along very well. the spirit is soo strong here its very humbling and power full. The second or third day you are here they give you a pretend investigator that you have to teach the lessons and eventually baptize them. My investigator is named Macarena she is from Neuquén Argentina. The lessons are coming along we just challenged her to get baptized in Spanish. Its crazy how much you learn in one day or in one hour of studying. The spirit plays a huge role in that and I immediately feel the spirit leave when I get frustrated at myself. I'm working on that a lot. I have learned so much about the gospel I feel like my head is going to explode.

So to Emma ya we have P-days mine is every Thursday once a week. Today my goals are to do some laundry, clean the room, go up to main campus to eat good food and find people. Other than that P-day is like Christmas. My companion and I have started writing a song to celebrate P-day and P-day eve haha its awesome. Oh ya and Emma on Sunday nights we meet all of us and watch church movies like that I think we get to watch that one next week. Since I only get computer time once a week you will have to be patient with me. That's awesome story about the purse I know the Lord answers my prayers every day. Let me tell you I pray more in one day than I did all of last year. When ever I am tired or stressed or thinking too long I start to pray. All is well that food is ok is guess, the beds are rock hard and its the hardest thing I've every done but I know this will be the best two years of my life. Oh so there is a ton of elders and hermanas ( sisters ) going to Idaho Nampa and Boise so say hi to  them.

Tuesday night we have devotionals at the Marriott Center and a general authority speaks. our speaker was Brother MaKormac the old mission president of Idaho. he gave an awesome talk. While I was sitting there I looked over and there was a kid that looked like Ben Sowards and so I yelled and he looked so than I really yelled and than he saw me and than I ran over a mob of Asian elders trying to get to him. I thought he would be gone but I guess he has one more week here before he leaves to Korea. I was soo excited to see Elder Sowerds. He is doing well super excited to leave for Korea. I'm going to try and find him today hopefully I can. we need to take some pictures together before he leaves. oh ya and I saw Elder Albertson ( Parker ) today is his first day he looks like he is handling everything well. I have seen a couple other people here from Skyview and Columbia and Mountain View.

Oh ya so since I don't have the time to write every day the hand mail or Dear Elder will probably work best but I will only have time to write one big email and than a couple of hand letters so I apologize if it takes a week. My physical address is
